What We Treat

Neck pain treatment in New Orleans.

Turning your whole body to back out of the driveway. The headache that starts at the base of your skull. It starts with a cause-first evaluation, not a guess about posture.

Sound Familiar?

Does this sound like you?

  • Turning your whole upper body to check a blind spot, because your neck won’t go that far
  • A headache that starts at the base of your skull and is there before lunch
  • Waking up with a neck that locked overnight, from nothing but a bad pillow
  • Pins and needles running down one arm into your fingers
  • A knot on the ridge of your shoulder you keep digging a thumb into
  • Catching yourself with your chin pushed forward at the screen, again

Why It Happens

Neck Pain has a cause. We find it.

Your neck moves more than any other part of your spine, and it does it with small parts. The joint right under your skull does your nodding. The facet joints behind it do your rotation. The discs between the vertebrae handle bending and leaning. When one of those stops moving properly, the others quietly cover for it.

That covering is the pain. Muscles and connective tissue overwork to hold your head where the joints no longer will. That’s the knot on your shoulder ridge, and it’s why the ache refers up into a headache. Sometimes a nerve root gets involved and the symptoms run down your arm. Hours at a keyboard, on a phone or behind a wheel keep feeding all of it. Which piece is driving yours is what a cause-first evaluation answers. You’re the one who powers through, so you learned to work around your neck instead of fixing it. That same stubbornness is what makes rehab work once somebody aims it.

The Honest Truth

Waiting doesn’t make neck pain wait on you.

If you keep waiting

  • Your rotation keeps shrinking, and you stop noticing what you no longer turn to see
  • You start planning your day around whether the headache turns up
  • Numbness with real weakness in the arm is the one that shouldn’t wait at all

If you start this week

  • Visit one checks the joints, the nerves and the posture, not just the sore spot
  • One-on-one with a licensed physical therapist, hands on, every visit
  • A plan with an endpoint: you know which phase you’re in and what’s left

Nobody regrets starting too early. Count the things you’ve stopped turning your head for, then decide whether that list should get longer.

How We Fix It

The same four phases. Built for your neck.

This is Magnolia’s own four-phase program, run for neck pain. Every plan has an endpoint.

Where we start

Pain

Calm the pain down.

Manual pressure point release and trigger point compression take the edge off the guarding, with ice for the inflammation.

Once the pain settles

Prime

Get your rotation back.

Spinal mobilization and manipulation free the segments that stopped moving. Gentle muscle energy techniques give the range back.

Once motion returns

Perform

Make it strong enough to hold.

The deep neck muscles and the stabilizers around your shoulder blade get strengthened, so your joints stop borrowing from tired muscle.

Before we sign off

Prevent

Return better than before.

Posture retraining for your desk, your phone and your drive, plus chin tucks and stretches you own. That’s the endpoint, not another appointment.

I no longer have any limits to how far I can turn my neck and the simple daily activities like driving no longer hurt. My headaches from the tightness and pain in my neck are gone. I can sleep better and can go through the day feeling relaxed and stress free!

Questions, Answered

What people ask before booking for neck pain.

Usually not, and it’s rarely the first step. A scan shows structure, not what is loading it. Disc wear and arthritic changes turn up on necks that have never hurt, so a picture on its own doesn’t tell you why yours does. We start with a hands-on, cause-first evaluation of your joints, your nerves and your posture. If imaging would genuinely change your plan, we’ll help you get it. One thing we don’t wait on: pain running down your arm with real weakness in the hand gets assessed promptly.

Yes, and movement usually helps more than rest. Hurt doesn’t always mean harm, and a neck held still gets stiffer and weaker, which sets up the next episode. What matters is dosing the right movement for your cause, and leaving alone the directions that flare it. That is what a licensed physical therapist works out at your evaluation, then progresses as you improve.

We won’t hand you a number before we have looked at your neck, because a number picked in advance is a guess. What you get instead is a plan with an endpoint. Your plan runs through our four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform and Prevent, and each phase has a job and a way to know you have finished it. Your therapist talks through the likely shape of yours at the evaluation, and you will always know which phase you are in and what is left.
